About Me

My name is Kaitlyn Michelle Bergen. I became a Christian at age 7, on May 2, 2005. Since then my life has been different. I have had good times in my walk with Christ, and other times the way has been full of difficulties and stumbling blocks. In times of doubting and questioning, it was only Jesus Christ who sustained me, and I am forever in His debt for so many things! How patient and abounding in grace and mercy is our Lord! I deserve nothing, yet He has given me everything.
At times I am overwhelmed at how amazing it is that God chose ME for Him, and at other times I forget to be in awe, forget the abundant mercy I have been shown. I don't deserve anything besides the punishment for my sin. I was born in sin, always deserving of death for as long as I have lived, yet how loving He is! How can He love such a one as I? And yet He does, with such a love that can be swayed by neither death nor life, angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation.

Above, I have written the most important things about my life.
Christ reigns in my heart.
THAT, my friends, is the biggest thing you could ever hope to know about me.
However, I do have other things in life that I enjoy, though they are of far less importance, and in hopes that you'll get to know me a bit better than you currently do, I'll give you a few.

{Er, maybe a bit more than a few.}

I love anything coffee: coffee-flavored ice cream, homemade frappuccinos (which, the computer tells me, is not a word), and just plain coffee. I'm told that coffee stunts growth. That must be my problem.

I love the smell of books.

I love rain.

I love the feeling of galloping on a spirited horse.

I love the idea of taking pictures, though none of mine ever turn out the way my imagination told me they would. A few turned out better than others. {Though still not nearly as good as my imagination said so. My imagination is so disillusioning!}

I love the vibrant colors of nature.

I love the mesmerizing sound of the waves crashing on the shore.

I love reading books to younger siblings. Most of the time, anyway.

I love movies like Pride and Prejudice, Anne of Green Gables, and The Scarlet Pimpernel.

I love stringing words together to make sentences. And then I love stringing the sentences together to make paragraphs, pages, and then whole books.

I love watching people I don't even know and making stories up about their lives.

I love my aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents. God has blessed me with the best extended family ever.

I love studying Scripture and getting a glimpse into God's perfect wisdom.

I love reading a gripping book that challenges and convicts me.

I love trying to get inside the mind of a good author and decide why they wrote certain things, who they observed to come to a certain conclusion, and how they thought of a certain analogy. It's quite distracting to be thinking about all those things while I'm reading, but hey, at least I'm being observant. :)

I love road trips, traveling and seeing new people and places.

I love musing about my future, wondering where I'll be in five, ten, and twenty years. God is so faithful, and I know He has the future, not just the present, in His hands.

I love french braids.

I love tall cowboy boots.

I love Africa.
Her people.
My friends.
My family.

And so saying, I'll leave you to either go check out my blog or go back to whatever you were doing before you wasted the time reading all the above. Unless you didn't read the above, and simply came to look at the pictures. *gasp* But that's okay, really. I completely understand, since I rarely read anyone's "About Me" pages either. ;)
